School of Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is an applied science that enriches human lives through the creation of devices, machines and products based on an understating of power and energy. Moreover, it is a pivotal science as one of the most fundamental fields of engineering in modern industrial society and a basic discipline with the widest fields of application. Mechanical engineering covers a wide range of specialties, such as numerical analysis, where a computer is used to conduct calculations or simulations, design engineering, which handles the design of machines and structures, machine manufacturing, which produces designed objects, power engineering, which turns energy into power, production engineering, which deals with the production of products, and control engineering, which is about the control of robots and mechanical devices.
Recently, mechanical engineering has expanded and grown in connection with information technology (IT), bio technology (BT), nano technology (NT), space technology (ST) and environmental technology (ET).
Therefore, the importance of mechanical engineering is even more emphasized in our modern high-tech society that is information- and globalization-oriented.
is to train creative engineers, rational intellectuals and global leaders who will design and produce high-tech machines, maximize productivity by incorporating IT and Internet technologies into these machines, and lead machinery-related industrial sites in the current high value-added information age. To this end, the faculty of the School of Mechanical Engineering strives to provide a well-rounded education, from solid pedagogy, to study and career counseling and aid in job hunting. In addition, the School of Mechanical Engineering maintains extensive industry-academia cooperative relations with domestic and overseas businesses, and provides opportunities for students to participate in research projects through academic research interchange with renowned foreign universities and research institutes. In particular, the School of Mechanical Engineering develops new curriculums, conducts industry-university cooperative research and offers customized courses through close collaboration with businesses in specialized local industries to contribute to regional development. In addition, the School of Mechanical Engineering has been operating advanced mechanical engineering programs certified by the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) since the 2006 school year.
