Program Objective

Global Korea Scholarship is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea in pursuit of academic degrees, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.

Duration of Scholarship

  • Undergraduate: Korean language program 1 year + degree curriculum 4 years 4-year major in a Korean university]
    Majors that require over 4 years are not approved (medical science, architecture, etc.)
  • Graduate: Korean language program 1 year + degree curriculum (master's 2 years/doctor's 3 years)
    Research program(6 months or 1 year)
    Graduate program, doctoral program, combined master's and doctorate program established in a Korean university.

Application submission

  • Application period: 2024.4.16.(GKS-G / R&D)
  • Method of submission: By actual mail. Mail-in applications will only be accepted if received before the due date
  • Address: Office of External Affairs Team of KOREATECH, 1600 Chungjeol-ro, Byeoncheon-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, 31253 Republic of Korea

Document preparation for application

  • Documents to complete:
    All forms must be submitted in English or Korean with applicant's signature.
    (* No need to be apostilled or consular confirmed)
  • Required certificates:
    • Documents written in English or Korean: MUST be apostilled or consular confirmed
    • Documents written in other languages:
      • must obtain apostille or consular confirmation either on original document or certified translation
      • document written in original language and its certified must be submitted together
  • If your country belongs to one of the member countries for the Apostille Convention, please have your documents apostilled and get a consular confirmation only when apostille is not possible
  • Notarized or original documents without apostille/consular confirmation are NOT acceptable
  • If you can not prepare the apostilled documents on time, it is possible to submit them on the designated date. (We will inform you later) However, all the other required documents MUST be sent before the due date and if apostilled documents are not sent within the designated date you will be DISQUALIFIED.

*NOTE*

  • Applicants must choose and apply for only ONE track. University track applicant must choose only ONE of the following programs: General, Regional University, UIC/R&D Program, or Research Program.
  • Embassy track applicant whose application have not passed the first round of selection* may apply to a university track as long as they can meet the application deadline of the re-applying university.

Successful candidates of the first round of selection (whose names were forwarded to NIIED from each including backup candidated) cannot apply for a university track again

  • Applicants must have maintained a grade point average (C.G.P.A.) of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4. 3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale, or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution. If an applicant does not satisfy the above CGPA criteria, he/she will be disqualified from applying to this program.
