Scholarship Duration

The UIC and R&D Programs at KOREATECH are offered as English Track programs. Students admitted to these programs proceed directly to their degree programs without a separate Korean language training year.

2027 GKS-U (Undergraduate)

The 2027 Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees (GKS-U) offers two application tracks: the mbassy Trackand the University Track.

Embassy Track

Embassy Track applicants must apply online through the Study in Korea website. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the applicant’s country conducts the first round of selection. Applicants may select KOREATECH as one of their preferred universities.

University Track – UIC

KOREATECH participates in the University Industry Cooperation (UIC) Program under the GKS-U University Track.

The UIC Program at KOREATECH is offered entirely through the English Track, and students proceed directly to the degree program without a separate Korean language training year.

Selection Procedure

The 2027 GKS-UIC University Track selection process consists of two stages.

First Round – KOREATECH

Application Submission → Eligibility Review → Document Screening → Interview → Selection of University Nominees

Second Round – National Institute for International Education (NIIED)

Eligibility and Qualification Review of KOREATECH Nominees → Final Selection of GKS Scholars

Passing KOREATECH’ first-round selection does not guarantee final selection. Final selection is determined by NIIED.

☞All required application documents, except Form 4 (Letter of Recommendation), must be combined into a single PDF file and arranged in the order specified in the “Application Documents” section on page 12 of the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines (English). For the initial application by e-mail, applicants are only required to provide the recommender’s information in Form 1.

Please make sure that your name in the email subject and file name is identical to the name stated in your application form.

Applicants must carefully review the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelinesissued by NIIED and the KOREATECH University Informationbefore submitting their applications.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements regarding nationality, age, educational background, academic performance, and other conditions specified in the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines.

Key eligibility requirements include:

• The applicant and both parents must hold foreign citizenship.
• Applicants must be under 25 years of age and meet the date-of-birth requirement specified in the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines.
• Applicants must have graduated or be expected to graduate from an educational institution that satisfies the academic requirements for admission to a bachelor’s degree program.
• Expected graduates must be able to fulfill all graduation requirements by December 31, 2026.
• Applicants who already hold a bachelor’s degree or higher are not eligible to apply for the GKS-U bachelor’s degree program.
• Applicants must meet at least one of the following academic performance requirements for their previous degree program:
  • A cumulative score of 80% or above on a 100-point scale;
  • A class rank within the top 20%; or
  • A cumulative GPA that meets the CGPA threshold specified in the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines.

Applicants must refer to the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines for complete eligibility requirements and acceptable supporting documents.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

As the KOREATECH GKS-UIC Program is offered through the English Track, applicants must meet the English language proficiency requirements established by KOREATECH.

The following English proficiency scores are currently accepted by KOREATECH:

• TOEFL iBT: 59 or above
• IELTS: 5.5 or above
• CEFR: B2 or above
• NEW TEPS: 202 or above

Required Documents and Submission

Applicants must submit all documents required under the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines, along with the additional documents required by KOREATECH.

Additional Documents Required by KOREATECH

• Copy of passport
• Official English language proficiency test score report

Document Submission Procedure

The initial document screening will be conducted based on the application documents submitted by e-mail by the application deadline.

Applicants selected for the interview must submit original documents that meet all authentication requirements specified in the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines, including Apostille or consular authentication, by the deadline designated by KOREATECH.

Failure to submit the required original documents by the designated deadline may result in disadvantages during the selection process.

Requirements regarding original documents, Apostille or consular authentication, and translations shall follow the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines.

For documents written in languages other than Korean or English, applicants must follow the translation and authentication requirements specified in the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines.

When submission of Form 4 (Letter of Recommendation) is required at a later stage, it must be prepared and submitted in accordance with the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines.

Additional Points

If both Korean and English language proficiency scores are submitted, only the score that results in the higher language proficiency evaluation score will be applied.

The language proficiency evaluation score based on TOPIK and the additional points for TOPIK may be applied simultaneously.

Important Notes

• Applicants must carefully review the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines, KOREATECH Admission Notice, and University Information before applying.
• Passing KOREATECH’s first-round selection does not guarantee final selection as a GKS scholar. Final selection is subject to NIIED’s review.
• Students finally selected under the UIC Program may change their major only within departments participating in the UIC specialized track. Changing to a department outside the UIC specialized track is restricted.
• In matters concerning eligibility, required documents, authentication requirements, and the selection process, the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines shall prevail.
• Multiple applications within the same GKS selection year are not permitted. Applicants must refer to the 2027 GKS-U Application Guidelines for detailed restrictions on multiple applications.
