The Guidelines for the Response to Viral Hemorrhagic Fever (Class 1 Infectious Disease) have been issued. If you plan to visit an Ebola high-risk country, please read and follow the guidelines below.
※ Ebola High-Risk Countries: Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Rwanda
□ Key Guidelines for Responding to Viral Hemorrhagic Fever (Class 1 Infectious Disease)
1. Prevention During Travel
- Avoid contact with wild animals: Do not touch, handle, or consume wild animals or animal carcasses that may carry the virus, including bats, non-human primates(such as monkeys), and rodents(such as rats).
- Avoid travel to high-risk areas whenever possible: Travel to Ebola high-risk countries should be avoided unless absolutely necessary
2. If you return without symptoms
- Cooperate with quarantine procedures: When entering Korea from a high-risk area, accurately complete the Health Declaration Form, including your name, contact information, address in Korea, transit countries, and any symptoms.
- Monitor your health during the incubation period: Self-monitoring during the incubation period: Even if you do not have any symptoms, monitor your health for up to 21 days after returning by checking your body temperature twice a day and completing a daily symptom log.
3. If You Develop Symptoms (Important)
- Immediate reporting and consultation: If you develop fever (38°C or higher), severe headache, muscle pain, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or unexplained bleeding, immediately contact the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) Call Center (1339) or your local public health center for guidance and further instructions.
- Inform healthcare providers: If you must visit a medical facility for any reason, inform the healthcare provider before receiving treatment that you have traveled to an Ebola high-risk country and have been subject to an epidemiological investigation by the public health center.
4. If You Are Identified as a Contact of a Confirmed Case
- High-risk contacts: Comply with the quarantine order issued by the local public health center and remain in strict isolation at home or in another designated independent location, following the instructions provided.
- Medium- and low-risk contacts: Refrain from using public transportation, taking long-distance trips, visiting crowded places, and participating in activities that involve frequent close physical contact.
5. Cooperation with Epidemiological Investigation
- If you are classified as a confirmed or suspected case and undergo an in-depth epidemiological investigation, you must provide accurate and truthful information about your travel history in the affected area and any close contacts before your symptoms began.
